ABOUT JESUS DIAZ HUIPE
Jesus Diaz Huipe is from a small town in Michoacan, Mexico, named Paracho.
It is a town famous for it's guitar building talent.
Jesus has had a comprehension for guitar building since he was a small child;
learning from the best luthiers in that area of Mexico and in Mexico City.
After coming to the United States he first worked with C Bruno and Sons in San Antonio, Texas checking the quality of accoustic guitars that they purchased from Japan for resale in the US.
He spent a few months there; then returned home for about one year.
Returning to the US he worked at various jobs in Missouri and Illinois;
then went on to Los Angeles where he had heard of a little guitar repair shop on Brooklyn Avenue in Los Angeles.
It was owned by Bernardo Chavez Rico who employed 4 or 5 other guitar builders from Paracho, Jesus' home town.
Jesus was still working for Mr. Rico when he passed away about five years later.
After his father's death, Bernie Rico took over the ownership of the little shop.
Several of the guitar repair customers asked Bernie to build new accoustics for them which gave him the idea to try a new venture.
The little shop was closed for a few weeks during a transition period; during which time Jesus (or Jessee as Bernie now called him) went to work at the "California Club" as a busboy.
When everyone returned to work, the little guitar repair shop was now at a new larger facility and moving finally to Chico Avenue where they remained until Jesus left after working for 17 -18 years.
Bernie had received numerous requests for electric guitars; and being such an avid guitar player, he put a plan into action.
Thus was born the famous B C Rich Guitar Company.
Jesus and the crew from Paracho along with Bernie and some of his player friends/employees designed and built the Mockingbird and many other guitars.
After Jesus left B C Rich for good, he returned to his home in Mexico where he again resumed his own guitar business for two or three months; helping his family as much as possible as well.
When he returned to the US this time he wanted to see what North Carolina was like; he had been told that the Blue Ridge Mountain area was much like his own Paracho surroundings - Cerro Grande.
While working for about one year in Plumtree and Spruce Pine he was talking with a co-worker who told him about a small guitar factory in Jonas Ridge.
Jesus got the telephone number and address, called, made an appointment for an interview, and went to the Mosrite Guitar factory.
Semie Moseley had answered the telephone and had told him to come immediately.
After their interview, Semie did not even want Jesus to go back home - but to just stay in their home.
The next day another of the employees, Ken took him to get his things; from then on he stayed in the Moseley's motorhome.
Semie was thrilled to have Jesus working with them and was very proud of him and his talent, in addition to his good personality and character.Jesus Diaz Huipe is from a small town in Michoacan, Mexico, named Paracho.
